The College provides counseling services to prospective students including orientation college programs and services, career information and guidance and college placement tests. Counselor hours are posted in the College Career Center.
Students planning on enrolling in the Westpac International Business College are encouraged to contact the school counselor for education and/or professional programs prior to enrolling. Students will be provided with information regarding admission procedures, placement testing requirements, and academic programs leading to an Associate in Arts or Bachelor's Degrees or professional certificate programs. Students who are undecided about career goals or objectives are provided with career guidance services, which may include assessment of interests and aptitudes and exploration of various career fields.
Placement tests measure the student's achievement level in reading, writing and mathematics skills. Test results are used by the counselor or student advisor to advise the student on course selection or need for skills development as a prerequisite for entering either the degree programs or certificate programs at the College. Placement examination is not mandatory for admission to the College, however, placement testing is required for those students enrolling in English and Mathematics courses.
Orientation is very important for students who are applying for or receiving financial assistance and particularly foreign students. Orientation consists of information concerning registration, financial information, college facilities and college staff, rules and regulations and procedures pertaining to students.
The College provides academic advising to assist students in their career goals as they develop their educational plan.
The school is committed to assisting the student find financial assistance so that the student would have the opportunity to develop his or her potential to the fullest extent possible with minimal financial burden. To enhance financial aid to students, the College will pursue:
Financial Aid Students at Westpac International Business College/Troy University may receive limited financial aid. Transient students are not eligible for financial aid through Troy University. Students may apply for a Subsidized Federal Family Educational Loan of up to $8,500 and Unsubsidized Loan funds of up to $12,000 per academic year for a maximum of $20,500; the total combination of all funds received regardless of the source cannot exceed the total cost of education. Troy University has limited funds (awarded first come first served) in the College Work Study Program and the Federal Perkins Student Loan Program for which graduate students may apply. The application priority deadline is May of each year for students enrolling the following fall term. Students are urged to use the financial aid section of the website for more detailed information on the financial aid application process. Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to receive a student loan.
The College has an all-purpose study area and a computer center that can be accessed by students enrolled at the College. Library services such as the RFK Library at the University of Guam and the Nieves Flores Memorial Library in Hagatna are within short driving distance from teh College. |
